Founded on a separation problem
Mercer International was established to solve a persistent industrial problem: separators that performed on paper but lost efficiency in service.
Company / About Mercer
Mercer International designs, builds and supports high-performance oil–water–solids separation systems for industrial sites in the United States. Our work begins with the operating reality of a site and ends with a system that keeps performing long after commissioning.
01 / Our history
(01)
Mercer International was established to solve a persistent industrial problem: separators that performed on paper but lost efficiency in service.
(02)
Rather than adopt plastic coalescing media, Mercer developed a durable internal architecture engineered to resist the clogging and collapse that shorten service life.
(03)
Systems engineered by Mercer have been operating across refining, chemical, aerospace, defense and heavy manufacturing sites for four decades.
(04)
Every system is configured around site conditions — flow, loading, temperature, solids and discharge requirements — rather than sold from a catalog page.

02 / Facilities
Mercer systems are fabricated in United States shops equipped for heavy steel vessel work — cutting, rolling, welding, coating and hydrotesting — with internals assembled and inspected before shipment. Engineering, fabrication oversight and aftermarket support sit under one organization, so the team that specified a system is the team that stands behind it in the field.

03 / The team
Projects are staffed by the same core disciplines from first enquiry through startup and long-term support.
Sizing and configuration based on separation physics, influent characterization and required discharge quality.
Vessel, internals, nozzle and skid design for the pressures, temperatures and duty cycles of industrial service.
Welded steel fabrication with coating and inspection appropriate to above-ground and below-ground installation.
Site audits, startup guidance, troubleshooting and retrofit of underperforming existing separators.
04 / Work with us
A short conversation about flow, loading and cleaning intervals is usually enough for our engineers to identify the constraint.
